PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Penguins have been without Sidney Crosby but thanks to the outstanding play of Tristan Jarry, Pittsburgh went 10-2-0 in December.
Now Jarry's efforts are being rewarded with the NHL's Second Star for December.
Back on December 9, Jarry was named the NHL's Second Star of the Week.
The Pens 10-2 record was the best record in the league during the calendar month of December.
Jarry appeared in nine games and went 8-1 with a .947 save percentage and 1.54 goals against.
He also recorded the most shutouts among goalies in December with three.
"Jarry is currently riding a career-long six-game win streak, which began on the Dec. 12 game against Columbus. During his streak, Jarry is 6-0-0, with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. He has allowed two or fewer goals in five of the six games."
Jarry is 13-5 this season. With a 1.87 goals against and .939 save percentage.
He is only one win shy of tying his career high of 14, a mark he set during the 2017-18 season.
The Penguins wrap up a three-game homestand Thursday night, and look to extend their win streak to four against San Jose.
Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.
The starting goaltender for the game has not yet been announced.
