Retired NFL linebacker LaVar Arrington says Pine-Richland firing coach Eric Kasperowicz is “ridiculous.”

Speaking on the Hometown Roofing Pomp & Poni Podcast powered by Bowser Chevrolet, Arrington, (who played at North Hills with Kasperowicz) believes administrators are “executing an agenda.”

“It almost seems as though they want the attention on them and not on the football program and not on Eric Kasperowicz and here is an opportunity to do just that,” said Arrington.

Arrington and Kasperowicz were teammates on North Hills’ PIAA state championship in 1993.

Kasperowicz was reportedly fired, along with his staff, after reports of hazing incidents.

Arrington says he isn’t saying that hazing didn’t occur but that don’t mean you put the blame solely on one person.

“Some people take things too far sometimes, that’s something you address and you come up with antidotes, you don’t condemn and place the blame solely at the feet of someone who was not a part of it,” said Arrington."

"If it was wrong of me to jump out here and say what I'm saying, I have to protect my professional integrity and credibility so I'm not just saying this to defend Eric, I'm saying it because right is right," said Arrington.

Arrington is a high school football coach of his own and is also a commentator on FOX Sports.

Dozens of players and other students gathered outside of Pine-Richland’s high school on Friday to support Kasperowicz.

The Rams are defending state champions and Kasperowicz has brought a total of four WPIAL Championship and two state titles.

Supporters of the coaches are hoping to have them reinstated. One student says it’s the superintendent who needs to go.

"It's just sad because, if teachers are crying and kids are crying in the middle of school, the administration should know that they did something wrong and that people want to see Dr. Miller be fired because he never liked Coach K and he always wanted him to fail."
