A Pittsburgh Penguin is the NHL’s first star of the week.
The NHL has named forward Rickard Rakell the NHL’s First Star of the Week for March 30.
Rakell scored seven goals and had one assist in the past five games, helping propel the Penguins to 96 points.
The Penguins are currently in 2nd place in the Metropolitan Division, six points ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Rakell’s seven goals were the most in the NHL in the past week. He tied Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby with eight points, good for 2nd in the league, behind only Jack Hughes’ nine points.
Rakell has a five-game goal-streak and eight-game point streak. He’s scored seven of the Penguins 30 goals over the past five games and has 11 goals over his last 10.
The forward for Sweden scored his 20th goal of the season last Tuesday in the Penguins’ 5-1 win against the Red Wings. It’s the seventh time Rakell has reached 20 goals in a season during his career.
The 32-year-old has 24 goals and 24 assists this season.
