CHICAGO (93.7 The Fan) – There was optimism on Friday as Aaron Rodgers went through practice, but the Steelers starting quarterback will not play on Sunday.

“He’s not going to play today,” Tomlin told CBS Sports’ Evan Washburn. “He fought his tail off all week, but that’s the prudent play to make for us as a collective. So he won’t be playing this week. We’ll let Mason start and obviously he’s absorbed most of the reps this week.”

Rodgers suffered a wrist fracture at the end of the first half against Cincinnati and missed the second half. Mike Tomlin said he wanted to return to the game, but obviously didn’t. After being fitted for a brace, Rodgers went through a limited practice on Thursday and then more work on Friday. However he was ruled out a couple hours before the game.

Mason Rudolph has started 13 games for the Steelers going 8-4-1. His last start with the Steelers was in Buffalo for a Wild Card playoff game, he went 22-39 for 229 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
