A Pirates prospect from Pittsburgh is set to make his professional debut on Tuesday.

2022 Montour High School graduate, Dylan Mathiesen will play for the Low-A Bradenton Marauders at 6:30 p.m.

Mathiesen was taken in the 13th-round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Pirates.

He was the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Class 4A player of the year in 2022, leading the Montour Spartans baseball team to the PIAA championship game.

He then moved on to California University of Pennsylvania for his first year, before transferring to Liberty, where he’s pitched the past two years.

Mathiesen was pitching well at Liberty before he suffered an injury and had to undergo elbow surgery in July 2025.

The 5-foot-10, 125-pound right-hander begins a journey that hopefully ends at PNC Park someday.
