Former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is free from custody after he was arrested by the state patrol for drunk driving after he left the team's Draft Party at US Bank Stadium.

According to the Hennepin County Jail Roster the 40-year-old was booked overnight for fourth-degree DWI.

Officials with the state patrol says Peterson was arrested at 5:15 a.m. Friday following a sobriety test.

Preliminary results of the test showed that Peterson's blood alcohol level was 0.14%.

Peterson’s bail has been set at $4,000 dollars and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 9 at 9:00 a.m.

He was released after posting bail two hours after his arrest.

Peterson played ten of his 15 years in the NFL with the Vikings, winning the league's MVP in 2012 while making the Pro Bowl seven times.

He's fifth on the NFL's all-time rushing list and has had run-ins with the law in the past.

Records show at least three traffic-related violations for Peterson between 2009 and 2011.

In late 2014, he pleaded no contest in his home state of Texas to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault for the harsh disciplining of his 4-year-old son.

Peterson admitted to striking his son twice, once with a belt, another time with a switch.
