Now that he’s won a Super Bowl, Aaron Donald has cemented his legacy as one of the best NFL players to come out of the University of Pittsburgh, if not the best.
And that isn’t it, Fan Steelers insider Ed Bouchette says that he’s even better than Joe Greene.
“You’re talking Joe Greene here too . . . I mean they played the same potion and Joe was as dominant a defensive lineman as you’ll see and he won a Defensive Player of the Year but Aaron Donald is, you gotta say he’s better,” said Bouchette. “That’s blasphemy here in Pittsburgh.”
Donald has won the DPOY three times over his eight-year career. During the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals, Donald had four total tackles, two sacks and made the final play, wrapping up QB Joe Burrow, forcing him to throw an incomplete pass.
It was also reported that if Donald and the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl, he would retire.
If he does, does that make him the best player ever out of Pitt? Bouchette says yes. That includes Tony Dorsett and Dan Marino
“Did any of them win three-time Player of the Year defensive or offensive because that’s what he’s won and Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl . . . Aaron Donald at his position is more dominating than any of them,” said Bouchette.
In addition to his three DPOY awards, the 30-year-old is an eight-time Pro Bowler, seven-time All Pro, was the 2014 Defensive Rookie of the Year and was named to the All-Time Team of the past decade.
