After receiving a big dose of Karma, Capitals goon winger Tom Wilson got the last laugh.

Toward the end of the first period Wilson delivered and obviously late hit to Penguins center Mark Jankowski that sent Wilson to the penalty box and Jankowski to the locker room for a time before he was able to return.

Wilson got only two minutes for interference, but it could’ve easily been a major.

Of course Wilson thought it was a clean hit. "I thought it was a great hit,” Wilson said.  “But I haven't watched it at all in live time.  He batted it out of the air and I finished him through the body right after. I think that's a great hockey play and I'll watch the replay."

“It doesn’t matter,” Coach Mike Sullivan said.  “The referees are going to make the calls.  They are going to call it as they see it.  We are just going to play.”

Later, Penguins defenseman Cody Ceci delivered some justice with an absolutely beautiful, devastating and CLEAN hit to Wilson at center ice sending him flying, landing on his wallet.

But there’s that old saying that “nice guys finish last” and that rang true on Thursday with Wilson, of all people, scoring the go ahead goal for the Caps to give them the lead after the Penguins had tied it up.

Two empty netters later and it was a 5-2 Washington win.

But the question remains, will Wilson serve yet another suspension? He’s already been suspended in the pre-season, regular season (20 games reduced to 16) and of course in the playoffs when he gave Zach Aston-Reese a broken jaw and concussion.

He’s also been able to avoid discipline a time or two so who knows if this time will be any different.

The good news is we have that beautiful moment forever caught in a loop.
