Guess whose effort is being questioned in Chicago. We’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count.
Okay, we’ll tell you, wide receiver Chase Claypool.
Crazy, right?
NFL reporter Dov Kleinman reported back in June that the Bear were not happy with Claypool’s efforts in the offseason.
"I have heard from a few people inside that building that he is not somebody who is very self-motivated," the report said.
On Sunday, several people, including NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt accused a “player” for the Bears of “sleep walking out there.”
He had zero catching in the loss to the Green Bay Packers.
As Kleinman points out in this video, watch Claypool’s effort, or lack thereof.
The Steelers traded Claypool for the Bears 2nd round pick.
The picked turned out to be the 32nd pick, with the Dolphins losing their first-rounder.
The Steelers took cornerback Joey Porter Jr., essentially a first-round pick.
While we don’t know how Porter will pan out (he only played nine total snaps Sunday), he’s got to be better than Claypool.
After an encouraging rookie season, it looks like the Steelers dodged a bullet by trading Claypool.
