Micah Parsons is fulfilling a promise to his mother with his new NFL contract.
The Dallas Cowboys first-round pick out of Penn State, who inked a four-year, $17 million deal last month, recently used some of that money to buy his mom a brand new house in the Dallas area.
The 22-year-old linebacker posted to his Instagram story Saturday night a video of he and his mother celebrating in front of a new house with the caption, “Welcome mom this. All for you.”
Prior to the draft, Parsons had spoken about how important it was for him to get the chance to help pay off his mother’s debt and buy a house for them to live in because he used to move a lot as a child.
“If I could put me and my mother into our own home and have something to call ours, it would be amazing,” he said in an interview with BroBible.
The Cowboys selected Parsons with the 12th overall pick back in April and the two came to an agreement on a contract in June that guaranteed the linebacker $17 million over the next four years.
The deal also included a $9.8 million signing bonus.
Parsons gesture is commonplace for many rookies who use their first NFL paycheck to help improve the lives of their families.
