Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott Ignore Social Distancing by Attending 30-Person Dinner Party

We know Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott can sling it—his 4,902 passing yards last year were the second-most in franchise history. Unfortunately, when it comes to social distancing, he’s falling a bit short. Apparently, Prescott’s idea of flattening the curve is attending a 30-person dinner party in Prosper, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, where fellow Cowboy Ezekiel Elliott was also seen Friday night, according to TMZ.

Dak and his Dallas teammate were celebrating a friend’s birthday and while it looked like a swell time—Zeke was seen grubbing from a buffet catered by Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse—it was also in clear violation of Texas’ recently invoked “safer-at-home” order. Like most of the country, the Lone Star State is cracking down on gatherings of 10 or more people to prevent further spread of the coronavirus. The number of COVID-19-related deaths in the United States has skyrocketed in recent days, surging to over 20,000 with 1,400 reported casualties in Texas alone.

This isn’t the first time Prescott has been called out for not adhering to social distancing. Dak was spotted working out with Dez Bryant and others at a local field last week. Many felt that was in poor taste given current circumstances and Prescott’s latest stunt figures to draw a similar outcry.

With all the dough he’s pocketing this year (the exclusive franchise tag will net him a cool $33 million in 2020), Prescott should never have to leave his home. While it’s doubtful the NFL will police its players in regard to social distancing—it would be hard to enforce anyway with each state adopting different policies—but as a repeat offender, Prescott should at least be reprimanded for his recklessness at a time when safety is paramount.
