Watson didn't want to say anything too wild when he spoke with former NFL superstar quarterback Michael Vick on FOX Sports, but he offered some insight into why Mahomes feels comfortable signing a 10-year extension with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, and Watson might not with the Texans.
"(Mahomes) feels like that organization and himself can win a lot of championships, especially being with Andy Reid and things like that. He feels like that's his home. That's where he wants to be for a long period of time. He has that solid background where he can trust and know. And I know a lot of things change in the NFL all of the time. But, hey I know this is going to be the core of this organization and I'm solid.
"My situation, and I don't want to say nothing too crazy, it's a little different in here. Just signing a deal for 10 years, I gotta speak on my agent with that. We've got to really sit down and think, like what do I want in my career, in my football career, where I want to be for a long period of time. I love Houston. I love the organization. I love the teammates, I love the players. But all of that stuff is always changing, always changing. So, yeah, I'm excited about it. I've been talking with my agent each and every day and trying to get exactly what we want, and make sure it's the best deal because change so much. So you've got to get everything you can, especially out of that first one."
