Maybe this this will be the last time we talk about one of the worst trades in Pirates and possibility baseball history, but we can’t promise.
As Pirates fans are aware, the Pirates traded pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Shane Baz, along with outfielder Austin Meadows to the Tampa Bay Rays for right-hander Chris Archer.
We won’t open old wounds but Archer didn’t work out with the Pirates.

Glasnow went 5-1 last season and helped the Rays get to the World Series. He was also off to a good start this season going 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA, but Tommy John surgery derailed the rest of his season (and likely the 2022 season as well).
Meadows had a great 2019, batting .291, but hasn’t really been able to find the same success since.
Now, the final piece of that trade makes his Major League debut on Monday night.
Baz is the Rays number one prospect will face the Blue Jays with Chris Archer being shut down for the season, going on the 60-day IL with hip discomfort.
Since being promoted to Triple-A Durham Bulls, Baz is 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA.
Okay, we have one more thing and then we’re done talking about the trade…maybe, forever.
Audacy Sports baseball insider Jon Heyman said on the MLB Network on Monday that the Rays would’ve given up Archer for just one of the players the Pirates traded for Archer, yet gave up all three.
“I don’t know what Pittsburgh was doing there.”
