Former Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is joining his fourth team in five seasons.
The Buffalo Bills announced Friday they have signed Claypool to a one-year deal.
The former Steeler was traded to Chicago for their second-round pick. That ended up being the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
Last October, Claypool was traded to Miami, along with a 2025 seventh-round pick for a sixth-rounder in 2025.
Claypool had 12 touchdowns with the Steelers before being traded. Since, he’s had one touchdown in 10 games with Chicago and zero in nine games with Miami.
After an encouraging rookie season, Claypool hasn’t been able to live up to his suspected potential.
With a capable quarterback like Josh Allen now throwing passes to Claypool, he may be able to revitalize his career.
If he doesn’t produce, this could be his last chance in the NFL.
Claypool has faced criticism for comments he made on the “I Am Athlete” podcast in June 2022, when he said he believes he’s a top three receiver in the NFL.
The Bills also signed DE Dawuane Smoot Friday.
