Head coach since 1993, Geneva football coach to retire

Geno DeMarco was an All-American player and now Hall of Fame coach

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – When he took over coaching Geneva College football, Bill Clinton was in his first year of his first term as President of the United States. Since 1993, Geno DeMarco has not only won a school-record number of football games, but impacted thousands of lives.

2025 will be his final season.

Geneva College announced DeMarco will retire after this season and remain on staff with the school. He is the longest tenured active head coach in any level of NCAA football and longest in Division III. He is 167-158 overall with 13 post-season appearances including winning the NCCAA Victory Bowl in five of its six appearances. He is in the NCCAA Hall of Fame and also teaches in the school’s business program.

Before coaching and teaching at Geneva, he played linebacker for the Golden Tornados. DeMarco was the school’s first academic All-American and also played baseball. He started his coaching career as a defensive line graduate assistant at Georgia Tech under Bill Curry.
Then a pair of seasons with Don Nehlen at West Virginia, coaching the secondary and defensive line.

Over 160 of his former players have gotten into coaching at various levels, including current Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach David Girardi.
