Former West Virginia Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins resigned earlier this week after he was charged with DUI in Pittsburgh Friday.

Huggins was about three-times over the legal limit when he was pulled over in Allegheny West on Merchant Street.

Pittsburgh Police said his black SUV had a “flat and shredded tire.”

He also failed a sobriety test and reportedly believed he was in Columbus.

Huggins’ daughter Jacque Huggins posted an extensive post on Facebook explaining the situation from her side of the story.

She says that she understands the “severity” of the situation but West Virginia administrators are “throwing stones at glass houses.”

She says that they only gave her father a half hour to decide whether he would resign or would be fired.

“(Huggins) told (West Virginia President) Gordon (Gee) and his board that he would go to rehab for a 60 day stint to be able to stay for these guys,” said Jacque. “The guys who don’t want to play for anyone else. That’s how much he cares. Refused.
Not even considered.”

She also addressed the reports of cans being strewn all over the vehicle. She says the media is trying to manipulate the facts.

Next the “beer cans all over the car” the cans were in bags and not all beer cans, There is a small group in Morgantown who knows my dad collects cans to recycle. Always has, always will. That’s his thing. To act like he was driving around pounding beers as the media wants to portray is absolutely absurd. The society in this world we are living in doesn’t always tell the truth. Media will tell you what they want you to believe or what they want you to know. That choice is of course yours to buy into or not, but just know it’s not always factual.

She also claims that her father is not an alcoholic and “he drinks like 90% of us do and made a mistake that cost him his job, reputation and livelihood.”
