PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Oneil Cruz is leaving AAA Indianapolis, but not to join the Pirates, he’s joining the AA Altoona Curve Tuesday night for a scheduled game at 6p.
Cruz played in two games over the weekend in AAA going 0 for 5 with a pair of walks and three strikeouts. The 27-year-old last played in AA during a rehab assignment last year going 1 for 6 with a double and three RBIs.
The Pirates starter is coming back from a broken finger caused when he slid into home. The lefty-hitter hasn’t had an MLB at bat since June 6.
In 64 games this season, Cruz is batting .264 with a .350 on-base percentage and .822 OPS with 14 home runs and 44 RBI with 21 stolen bases. This season he is also one of the Pirates best hitters against left-handed pitching.
