Legendary WPIAL football coach Pat Tarquinio has died

Well-known and highly successful WPIAL football coach Pat Tarquinio died Monday.

His head coaching career started at Ellwood City in 1959.

From there, Tarquinio went to Beaver High School where he won three WPIAL titles.

Seven of his Beaver teams were undefeated in regular season play.

The Post-Gazette's Mike White says Tarquinio was the winningest coach in WPIAL history when he stepped down in 1999.

He was inducted into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.

Pat Tarquinio was 89.
