Mac Jones isn't practicing Thursday due to an illness, according to multiple reports. NFL Media's Tom Pelissero says it's believed to be an "upset stomach," and not Covid-related.
The Patriots quarterback was at practice Wednesday, despite dealing with a back injury that he suffered in Sunday's loss against the Dolphins. The second-year passer withstood some heavy pressure, including an illegal hit from safety Jevon Holland that targeted his upper-body.
The second-year passer underwent tests after the game, and all X-rays came back negative.
Jones, 24, hasn't yet missed a start in his NFL career. Given the Patriots' woeful offensive performance against the Dolphins, it's crucial that he's available Sunday in Pittsburgh.
Missing Thursday's practice isn't a positive, even if his absence only lasts for a day.
