Asked if the 2024 starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers is currently on the team, Head Coach Mike Tomlin said “yes.”

That would likely mean Kenny Pickett, who was injured in early December did not return after he was healed because the stuck with the “hot hand” in Mason Rudolph.

With 2024 essentially a make-or-break year for Pickett, according to the way Tomlin talked during his final news conference of the 2023 season last week.

But could the Steelers make a surprise move and add a high-profile name to the quarterback room?

The Steelers are not the odds-on favorite for Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins, but are one of the top seven teams.

Minnesota Bets has the Vikings as the most likely destination at 40 percent or +150, that’s followed by the Atlanta Falcons at 14.3 percent, Denver Broncos at 12.5 percent, Las Vegas Raiders at 10 percent, New England Patriots at 10 percent and then the Steelers at 6.3 percent or +1500.

The Steelers are tied with the Tampa Bay Bucs at 6.3 percent.

Cousins just finished the last year of his current contract with the Vikings and has expressed he wants to come back to Minnesota.

Cousins is 50-37-1 over six seasons with Minnesota, but has struggled in the playoffs.

The most likely scenario for the Steelers is they pick up a backup quarterback somewhere in free agency or the draft or they resign Rudolph.

With Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson as the other starting quarterbacks in the AFC North, hopefully the Steelers do something at quarterback.
