Pat McAfee had all the confidence in the world in West Virginia, so much so, that the former NFL punter wagered $10,000 on his alma mater to beat Syracuse on Sunday.

McAfee said he would give his winnings away if the bet hit.

Well, we know how that turned out.

The Mountaineers were stunned by No. 11 Syracuse in a 75-72 second-round loss, which ended in the final seconds on a traveling call against West Virginia as they tried to move the ball up court for a desperation buzzer-beater.

McAfee, factoring in other future bets he placed on the team, lost a grand total of $20,000 as he watched from the stands of Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

His wife, Samantha, captured the former punter’s reaction as the game ended and, needless to say, he was not having a good time.

McAfee seemed to be angry at the officials called a travel in that situation, rather than the player himself, although it was 100% the correct call to be made.

Hey, he had to take his frustration out on somebody and thank goodness it wasn’t the fan who came over to talk to McAfee. He did not seem to be up for a conversation in that moment and his wife certainly seemed to think it was ridiculous as well.

As some more time passed, McAfee facetiously tweeted he wants an NCAA investigation into Buddy Boehiem, the son of Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim.
