Penguins dub Chris Pryor new director of player personnel

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — Penguins general manager Ron Hextall announced Saturday that Chris Pryor had been named the new director of player personnel.

"Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and is a welcome addition to our hockey operations staff," said Hextall.

According to the team, the newly appointed Pryor will "help oversee the scouting efforts in North America and Europe and assist with all player personnel decisions."

Pryor has gained 25 years of scouting experience in the NHL.

From 1999-2019, Pryor worked in numerous roles with the Philadelphia Flyers, but his mission mostly circulated around scouting.

He worked under Hextall as an assistant from 2016-2018.

Pryor has been credited for working on Flyers teams that brought in players such as Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov, Travis Konecny, and Carter Hart.

Pryor spent a six-year stint in the mid- and late-90s working as an amateur scout for the New York Islanders.

And before that, Pryor had a seven-year hockey career between the Minnesota North Stars and New York Islanders from 1984-1990.
