PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) A lot of people have been watching the Pittsburgh Penguins recently; So much so that the Pens lead the NHL in local TV ratings for the first month of the season.
According to figured published by the Sports Business Journal, the Penguins' rating of 7.88 for games on AT&T SportsNet leads all United States based teams.
The Penguins have ranked first or second in local TV ratings for the last 10 years, but these new numbers have shown a 50% increase from last season.
"We have the greatest fans in hockey," Penguins Chief Experience Officer James Santilli said.
The numbers become even more impressive considering AT&T SportsNet hasn't carried every Pens game this season.
Multiple matchups were exclusive national broadcasts.
The publication reported numbers through Feb. 9.
