PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It's the seventh time in the last two seasons that Pitt won an ACC weekly award. This time it was not only a Panther, but a local.
With his career-high 30 points, third most by a freshman in Pitt history, Brandin 'Beebah' Cummings named the ACC Rookie of the Week on Monday. It's also the most points by a Pitt freshman off the bench in school history and second-best of any non-starter, regardless of academic class, in the history of Panthers basketball.
The Lincoln Park HS graduate was 10-13 field goals, six of eight from three-point range, four of six from the foul line in a 96-56 win over Eastern Kentucky on December 11.
Cummings will continue to play a big role even having only 11 games of college basketball as transfer guard Damian Dunn continues to heal from thumb surgery. Pitt (9-2) will play its final non-conference game Saturday hosting Sam Houston at 1p on 93.7 The Fan. Pregame starts with the Voice of the Panthers Bill Hillgrove and Panthers great Curtis Aiken at 12:30p.
