A day after he resigned as Pitt Football’s offensive coordinator, Mark Whipple has accepted the same position at Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers announced on Wednesday morning that Whipple will be the new OC/quarterbacks coach.
Whipple is coming off his best season at Pitt, helping lead the Panthers to an ACC Championship. He offense also finished third in scoring in all of college football.
“During his three seasons at Pitt, Mark Whipple was a great asset for our entire football program,” Head Coach Pat Narduzzi said in a statement on Tuesday. “He did a tremendous job transitioning us from a heavy run attack to one of the best passing games in the entire country. His great work with quarterbacks was obviously on full display, given the outstanding year Kenny Pickett has enjoyed. I am very grateful for Mark’s time in Pittsburgh, both personally as well as professionally, and I wish him and his family the very best moving forward.”
With Whipple moving on, it could be harder for Pitt to recruit in the offseason.
He was the man who helped quarterback Kenny Pickett reach Heisman Trophy finalist status.
With him gone, recruiters won’t be able to tell a potential quarterback that he will have the same coach Pickett did.
The Panthers will play Michigan State in the Peach Bowl on December 30. It's already known Whipple won't be there. Pickett has yet to make a decision.
