Pitt offensive coordinator Mark Whipple is resigning from the football program.
The reason for Whipple's resignation is not officially known.
“During his three seasons at Pitt, Mark Whipple was a great asset for our entire football program,” Head Coach Pat Narduzzi said. “He did a tremendous job transitioning us from a heavy run attack to one of the best passing games in the entire country. His great work with quarterbacks was obviously on full display, given the outstanding year Kenny Pickett has enjoyed. I am very grateful for Mark’s time in Pittsburgh, both personally as well as professionally, and I wish him and his family the very best moving forward.”
He is expected to miss the Peach Bowl in Atlanta on December 30 when the Panthers take on the Michigan State Spartans.
The 64-year-old Whipple’s offense was averaged 43 points a game in 2021.
The dynamic offense was the third best at scoring in college football this season that resulted in Pitt's first-ever ACC Championship.
This was the third year Whipple has been the offensive coordinator at Pitt.
