PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – If this Maryland transfer works out anything like the previous, Pitt will be in good shape with Marcus Minor.

The 6’4”, 315 pound offensive lineman admits he consulted All-ACC First Team returner DJ Turner before deciding to join the Panthers.

“After I knew I was going to transfer, I asked DJ how it was,” Minor said.  “Based on me already having a relationship with Coach Borbs, knowing Coach Narduzzi recruited me out of high school, I knew it was possible.  He told me he enjoyed his process here.  It gave me the thought that this might me a new home for me.”

Already Minor is studying the playbook likely a month before Spring drills start and has two years to play.  Learning new offensive calls is nothing new for him.  He’s had a different system every year in college.

“Enjoying being able to come to a program where I’m able to jump in and be one of the guys,” Minor said.  “The O-lineman have brought me in as a family.”

The Maryland native believes he will be a guard, where there is an immediate need, but has also played tackle and said he’d play center if that got him on the field.

“Wherever I can help, I’m willing to do,” Minor said.  “I do know that I’m talented.  I do know I have the ability to play.  Wherever coach puts me, I’m ready to take that step forward and help the team any way I can.”

Minor comes with credentials, he was a four-star player out of high school and started 17 games with the Terps.  He also comes with a college degree.

The biggest adjustment for Minor likely won’t be on the field, but in a classroom or in today’s age, on a laptop in his room.

“It’s my first time in grad school,” Minor said.  “I’m in the business school, that’s a little different for me.  The classes are a little longer, I don’t enjoy that.”-

“I’m excited to be in the Katz Business School.  I know that can take me very far post-football.  I’m excited what I can do with that.”

He hopes that post-football career is a long-time off and that Pitt is the catalyst for the NFL as well.

“I wanted a better opportunity for myself,” Minor said.  “I feel that being here is going to give me a better opportunity to push myself to get to where I want to get to take the steps forward to reach the goals I want to reach.  I want to go to the League, that’s my end all, be all.  I want to be All ACC first team.  I want to be an All-American.  I want to be one of the best linemen to come out of Pitt.”
