This Saturday's Blue-Gold game at Heinz Field is raising the stakes for the guys at The Fan.
On Monday during the PM Team, head coach Pat Naruduzzi announced The Fan Morning Show will be the honorary head coaches for one team and Poni and Mueller will head the other team.
Narduzzi says he will split his staff in half into a blue squad and gold squad and they will draft out the senior class.
Those seniors will draft out the rest of the teams.
On Wednesday, the PM Team will broadcast live from Pitt's facilities and Narduzzi says they'll try to coach up the Morning Show guys (Colin Dunlap and Chris Mack) along with Poni and Mueller so they don't embarrass themselves too much.
When it comes to game day, Narduzzi says the guys will have a chance to put on the headsets and call a play or two.
"You're going to be on the headsets, you're on the sidelines, you're involved . . . you're making decisions, if you want to go for it on 4th down or maybe you can mention to the offensive coordinator, hey let's take a shot here'," said Narduzzi.
The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network so Narduzzi says they need to do the best they can and doesn't want to see any "bologna" on the sidelines.
He adds the winners will be welcomed to the Pitt facility on Monday to enjoy steak and lobster with the losers getting something not as desirable.
The annual Blue-Gold game presented by PNC kicks off at 1 p.m. at Heinz Field.
Admission is free and more details can be found here.
