Pitt Football’s head coach Pat Narduzzi has Penn State’s James Franklin’s back, at least this time.

Iowa fans booed last weekend when some Penn State players were injured believing they were faking them, trying to slow the Hawkeyes offense down.

“I mean our fans aren’t stupid, I mean they’re watching, they know what’s going on,” said Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz defending the fans’ belief.

The problem is Iowa doesn’t run a fast offense.

"How does this strategy make sense against a huddle team?" Franklin said on Wednesday.

“Lot of talk about cramps and tempo and injuries . . . I don’t agree with James Franklin on a whole bunch, but James I’ve got your back,” Narduzzi said on Thursday. “When you’re not playing a fast tempo offense, a team that huddles nobody goes down with a cramp, so that’s a bunch of baloney.”

While they may not vacation together, as Narduzzi sarcastically said they do a few seasons ago, this one time the Pitt head coach is agreeing with his rival in Happy Valley.
