PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Maybe the Pirates best reliever for at least the last month is now away from the team and the Bucs sent one of its former top 10 prospects back to the minors before opening a series with the Red Sox.

And before we get any further, Oneil Cruz is staying in the minor leagues.

Yohan Ramirez placed on Paternity Leave with Wilbur Dotel, who can give some length out of the bullpen, called up. Outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia to the minors with Billy Cook replacing him.

It’s the fourth time up for Dotel who is 1-4 with a 5.06 ERA in the majors. Before being sent down, Dotel has given up five runs in his last 4.1 innings, he previously had lowered his ERA a full run and a half.

After a 9.24 ERA in May, Ramirez gave up only two runs in 14 innings in June winning a pair of games. In July he was better, 15 strikeouts in 11.2 innings with a 0.77 ERA and had given up one hit in 9.1 scoreless innings in August.

The 23-year-old Garcia is the Pirates 13th best prospect, but the righty-hitter had just 13 at bats during this call-up with one single and six strikeouts. For the season just a .167 average in the majors with a .200 on-base percentage.

After spotty action in the majors, Cook had 22 games in AAA hitting .293/.389 on-base and .901 OPS.
