Narduzzi Hopes To Know Who Pitt Is Playing In Opener By Thursday

The Panthers are still don't know who they are playing to start the 2020 season

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi says he hopes to hear about an Opening Day opponent by Thursday.

"The clock is ticking," Narduzzi said Tuesday afternoon.  "It's kind of like the NCAA Tournament.  You play in the tournament and you get to the Sweet 16 and you don't know who you are going to play."

After the schedule was re-drawn by the ACC to allow for one non-conference game, Pitt decided on playing Miami of Ohio.  In the meantime, the Mid-American Conference suspended football until the spring, leaving Pitt with a void.

"If we found out on the Saturday before we played them, we'd still be good," Narduzzi said.  "We have time to get tape and be in a normal week.  We just wouldn't be any further ahead.  We'd like to be more prepared than that."

Typically, Narduzzi said they would start looking at their first opponent when they are done recruiting in May.

"Right now we are working on Pitt," Narduzzi said.  "We are working on who we are and getting three percent better.  So we are working on beating Pitt right now."

Adding they aren't ready to talk about an opponent yet anyway with the team.
