Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said he talked to his All-American after he was traded by the Steelers to Philadelphia. He said he's 'doing great'.
"It's business," Narduzzi said Tuesday after one of the Panthers Spring practices. "It's business for everybody. It's business for the Steelers, business for Kenny and business as usual."
Narduzzi admitted he doesn't follow NFL transactions closely with all he has going on, but said it seems like there is more movement with players this year. He said he noticed that a couple of his other former players will have new teams in Dane Jackson and Avonte Maddox. He joked that free agency and trades are like the professional football version of the transfer portal, which opened on Monday.
"I'm happy for Kenny," Narduzzi said of the trade. "I'm happy for the Steelers. I think things happen for a reason. The first thing I think about Kenny is just being back home. I'm sure his mom and dad can drive two hours across the state of New Jersey and get to a Philly game."
The Pitt head coach did not elaborate on his conversation with Pickett, but for the first time since 2017 Narduzzi won't see him on the South Side anymore.
