Pitt bounces back behind rookie quarterback

With Kedon Slovis not fit to start and Nick Patti injured, Nate Yarnell, a redshirt freshman, proved his worth with a comfortable win over Western Michigan to improve Pitt to 2-1.

He threw 9 for 12 with one touchdowns in his first game for the panthers, recording 179 passing yards.


Interceptions were the name of the game tonight. The pick six in the first quarter by Marquis Williams set the tone for the defense and the rest of the game.

Pitt would end the game with a total of three touchdowns capping a less than impressive outing from Western Michigans quarterback Jack Salopek

Israel Abanikanda had a monster game with 31 carries, 133 yards and one touchdown.

The kicking was more consistent this week, only missing one extra point.

Pitt got their much needed winter a tough OT loss against Tennessee last week and their revenge on Western Michigan after a 3 point loss last season.

Pittsburghs next game will be back at Acrisure stadium next Saturday against Rhode Island.
