Pitt men’s basketball is losing one of their big recruits to injury for the entire season.

Pitt Athletics announced on Thursday that Freshman Papa Amadou Kante is expected to miss the entire upcoming season.

He was working out on Wednesday when he was injured.

It’s a non-contact injury.

"Papa is a terrific person with great spirit and a relentless work ethic," said head coach Jeff Capel. "We feel for him to have this happen so early in his collegiate career. We have an outstanding medical and athletic training staff, and we know that Papa will attack the rehab and recovery process. This will be a minor setback for a young man with a great future in our program."

The forward is a four-star prospect and Top 100 recruit out of South Kent Prep in Connecticut is originally from Dakar, Senegal.
