PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers Aaron Rodgers said he will often talk to Pitt players as the teams share headquarters, this week though he stepped up in rooting for the Panthers.

“Come on Pitt,” Rodgers said Wednesday. “Let's get it done this week.”

This is even the case given Rodgers alma mater is now in the ACC. And that is where the rooting interest really comes from on Saturday. Rodgers played two seasons with the California Bears, their rival is Stanford.

Rodgers completed 64% of his passes for 5,469 yards, 43 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and averaged 8.1 yards per attempt. Even though he didn’t win Pac 12 Player of the Year, won by Heisman winner Matt Leinart (USC), he finished ninth in the Heisman voting in a group that also included Adrian Peterson, Alex Smith and Reggie Bush.

“Well, good luck to Pitt beating those guys for sure,” Rodgers said with a smile. “Let's go. I talked to some of those guys just about every week, always teasing, I know they're not playing Cal this year, but always say ‘you guys playing Cal?’ They say no we got, you know, NC State. You’re lucky it's not Cal this week."

“They're playing those guys,” Rodgers said. “Come on Pitt. Let's get it done this week.”
