Penguins forward Ben Kindel is receiving treatment after having a medical episode of the team’s flight back from Salt Lake City.
The Penguins issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon saying that the incident happened shortly after takeoff. The plane then returned to Salt Lake City International Airport.
While the team didn’t get into the specifics of the medical episode, they said that a UPMC physician, as well as the team’s medical staff “were on board and immediately attended to Ben.”
An ambulance took the 19-year-old Kindel to the University of Utah hospital.
The team says Kindel is “alert and in stable condition.”
“The health and safety of our players, as well as the privacy for their families, are our top priority. The team will provide further updates when appropriate.”
Kindel has four points this season (two goals, two assists) and has played in nine games so far this season.
