The goalie that has been chased by the Penguins the past two games is up for the award for the best goalie in the NHL.
New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin along with Flames goalkeeper Jacob Markstrom and the Predators Juuse Saros are up for the Vezina Trophy.
In the regular season, “Shesty” posted a .935 save percentage and a league-leading 2.07 goal-against average in his first full season in the NHL.
While Shesterkin dominated the Penguins in the regular season, the Pens have chased the goalie off the ice the past two games, putting up seven on the Rangers in Games three and four.
The Rangers are one game away from elimination with the Penguins ready to return that lovely wave goodbye Shesterkin gave after a shutout in the regular season.
Or maybe he’s just been shaky ever since that “violent hit” he suffered from Jeff Carter in game two.
Whatever the reason, Shesterkin and the rest of his team are one loss away from being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
At least he might get to raise the Vezina?
