The team announced on Tuesday that backup goaltender Casey DeSmith has signed a two-year deal to remain in Pittsburgh.

The contract that keeps in Pittsburgh through the 2024 season will pay DeSmith $1.8 million a year.

The 30-year-old DeSmith was 11-6-5 for the Penguins last season with a .914 save percentage over 26 games.

Being injured for the playoffs in 2020-21, DeSmith had his first playoff start this year against the New York Rangers, but was injured in game, and missed the rest of the playoffs.

DeSmith required core surgery after being injured in game one.

The 6’0”, 181-pound New Hampshire native has played four seasons in the NHL, all with the Penguins.

He’s appeared in 96 NHL games with a .915 career save percentage, going 43-28.
