PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Still going through their busiest month in team history, more adversity for the Pens coming off a 6-2 loss to Colorado. Team second-leading goal scorer Anthony Mantha is out, day-to-day and missing practice Wednesday, with an undisclosed injury.
Mantha has a career-high 26 goals and 53 points this season and has worked on many different lines. Of those 26 goals, 11 are on the power play, where the Pens have struggled.
On Tuesday before moving up to replace Evgeni Malkin, who also missed practice on Wednesday & is day-to-day, on the second line, team captain Sidney Crosby said this of Mantha.
“He’s a guy that’s stepped up in different roles and played on different lines and continued to produce,” Crosby said. “He’s someone that’s just found a way to be successful with any opportunity he got.”
Pens are at Ottawa, one point back in the Eastern Conference, Thursday night before hosting a Dallas team heading for the playoffs Saturday at 5p.
