CRANBERRY TWP, PA (93.7 The Fan) – Pens added to a few needs sending a third-round pick (acquired from San Jose) to Detroit before the trade deadline Friday at 3p.

Elmer Soderblom is only 24-years-old, he’s a left winger and is 6’8”, 252 pounds. He’s played 39 games this year with a pair of goals, an assist and 12 penalty minutes. It’s not overly physical, but can use his reach to his advantage.

Last year in the AHL, Soderblom had 17 points (five goals) in 38 games in splitting time with the Red Wings.

Only Zdeno Chara is a taller player in the history of the NHL. He wears a size 15 shoe and 12 7/8” blade. A sixth round pick out of Sweden, he played three years in the Swedish elite league.
