PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He had a short-lived run as a cult hero in Pittsburgh after eating spicy pork and broccoli during a playoff game, then entering and winning the game. Now Louis Domingue is going back to New York, not just for the food, but on a two-year contract with the Rangers.
Due to the injuries to Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith (during overtime of Game One of their first-round series), Domingue played in six and started five playoff games for the Pens. The rare right-hand glove stopped 168 of 187 shots for a .898 save percentage and 3.65 goals against average. The 30-year-old stopped all 17 shots in the overtime win, but in four of the five starts he had a save percentage under .900.
Domingue played in all of the playoff games despite playing just two starts in the regular season.
Pens currently have a pair of goalies under contract for this season-Jarry and Dustin Tokarski and DeSmith on a two-year contract.
