PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) Two very high profile players in the NHL were recently bought out by their team and are hitting free agency.
A forward and a defenseman, both 36-years-old, and former All-Stars and American Olympians.
On Tuesday, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter were bought out of their contracts by the Minnesota Wild.
Parise and Suter signed massive contracts before the 2012-13 season with the Wild and were supposed to last until 2025.
Now that Parise and Suter are on the free agent market, should the Pittsburgh Penguins take a stab at the skaters to improve their lineup?
The Penguins have gone three straight seasons without a post-season series win, and that needs to change.
Could one or both of Parise or Suter make a difference in the Penguins lineup?
Given their age and decline in play, the two are likely not going to cost as much as they did on their previous contracts.
And sure, their play might be "declining," but they are still very skilled and talented hockey players.
If the Penguins are going to lose someone in the Expansion Draft, maybe Parise or Suter can fill in as a replacement.
