PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Suffering a lower-body injury during the game Thursday in Ottawa, Sidney Crosby is out for Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars. As for when he might return?
“He’s still day-to-day,” said Pens head coach Dan Muse. “He’s out today. Still the same thing, day-to-day, out today.”
Injured at the Winter Olympics, Crosby only returned to the lineup on March 18 against Carolina finishing with a goal and an assist. Crosby had an assist in all four full games of his return before leaving against Ottawa.
Muse declined to say if it was related to his previous injury, just that it was a lower body injury.
There is a comfort level with Rickard Rakell moving over to center. Rutger McGroarty was recalled from the AHL and will be in the lineup against Dallas.
“It’s what happens anytime anyone comes out, guys have to step up,” Muse said. “They have to elevate. Guys have to take on different responsibilities, different minutes than they’ve had in the past. With Sid and with Geno, not one person is going to suddenly replace him. All of these things need to be done by committee and that’s what we’ve done all year.”
