PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) After missing the final six games of the regular season and the opening two of the playoffs, Tristan Jarry has begun taking reps on the ice.

While not expected to play Saturday night for Game 3, seeing the Penguins starting goalie in pads on the ice is encouraging.

It was reported before Game 2 that Jarry was out of his walking boot following breaking his foot but there was still no time table for his return.

Seeing Jarry on the ice has to be a breath of fresh air since the Penguins are down to starting Louis Domingue, their third string goalie.

Casey DeSmith underwent successful core muscle surgery Friday morning and will miss the remainder of the playoffs.

Jarry took in reps with goalie coach Andy Chiodo before the Penguins' optional practice ahead of Game 3.

Nothing is confirmed until Mike Sullivan speaks, but for now fans can fall back on the note that Jarry is closing in on a return.

Rickard Rakell was out skating before the optional practice, as well.
