CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA (93.7 The Fan) – A day after missing practice with an upper-body injury, Sidney Crosby was one of the first on the ice for Pens practice on Thursday.

While optimism of him being a part of team drills, Crosby only skated by himself on a separate rink at the UPMC Lemieux complex in Cranberry. Head coach Mike Sullivan said that was pre-planned. He said Crosby is continuing to be evaluated and will have more information on Friday. The Pens captain was not available for comment after the workout.

Crosby went full speed during the individual work Thursday, but mostly on footwork and passing, he took very few shots. Crosby had his arm caught between a pair of Devils players on Tuesday night and left the game for a large chunk of the third period. Crosby did return and played most of the overtime period.

The Pens play at the Rangers Friday night and at Philadelphia on Saturday before the break during the Four Nations Face-Off starting on Wednesday. Crosby is the captain of Team Canada for the event.

Sullivan said he is not in communication with officials with Team Canada about his status for that event, he leaves that up to GM Kyle Dubas.
