Spring Training isn’t always the most exciting baseball you can watch, but every now and again something happens that you have to see.
Pirates infielder Rodolfo Castro was batting in the bottom of the 5th inning against the Toronto Blue Jays when he hit a seemingly route fly ball to left.
Jays Left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. caught the ball on the run toward the warning track but as he swung his glove up, the ball flew out.
Castro noticed and turned up the speed. Gurriel mimicked throwing the ball into the infield when he noticed the ball was no longer in his glove.
Gurriel jogged over to the ball and threw it in toward home plate, but was too late.
Castro’s Little League home run gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead over the Blue Jays.
The 21-year-old Castro is currently on the Pirates 40-man roster.
