The Pirates are 11-7 going into Wednesday’s game and just like with every story about the Pirates, it must be noted it’s still early.

So, what’s with the early on success?

It comes down to pitching, pitching and pitching.

As Pirates Pre and Post-game host Josh Rowntree points out, the team’s starting pitching has had eight consecutive quality starts.

Over those eight games, starters have pitched 49 innings, giving up 44 hits with a 2.57 ERA with 17 walks and 46 strikeouts.

“Tremendous work against the defending World Series champs, in St. Louis and at Coors Field,” said Rowntree.
