While the Pirates hope the product on the field improves this season, the organization is doing several things around PNC Park to enhance the fan experience.
One of the things fans will notice right away is an aim to reduce wait times.
A new security system at the gates will allow for quicker entry into the park.
A previous bag policy is also returning. Bags 16x16x8 will once again be allowed inside the park.
Various improvements have been made to the main concourse including removing a merchandise kiosk.
The new merchandise area is located near Pop’s Plaza and is bigger than the kiosk.
A bar has also been removed and replaced with self-serve Brew-Thru area with fans able to grab a drink out of the refrigerator and pay.
An area called Favs on Third allows fans to grab ice cream, drinks, and other fan favorite foods on the go and quickly pay without waiting in long lines.
The game experience has also been enhanced with the addition to a new state-of-the-art scoreboard and LED ribbon boards all around the park.
A new sound system has been installed and the out of town scoreboard is back.
Some new activities are available for kids in the play area near right field.
A batting cage allow fans to swing a bat and it tells them which Pirates player their swing is most like
Of course, with the new season comes new food offerings.
New chicken tenders will be available at Chicken Pitt in section 127
A Bucco Crunch Dog will also be on the menu. It is a deep-fried Red Ripper Frank served with onions, deli brown mustard and a potato slit top bun.
Fried cheese curds with sweet pickles and dill ranch is also available.
Ballpark Burghers in sections 108, 120 and 133 will offer and All-Star Burger with fries.
Caliente Pizza is also now available throughout PNC Park.
Chicken on the Hill is offering a new Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Manny BBQ in the outfield has a new pulled pork BBQ/ mini Mrs. T’s Piergoies dish available this year.
And those in the Premium Suites Level can get their hands on Cherry Pie Funnel Fries.
