PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) It's become a consistent pattern over the years for the Pittsburgh Pirates; former pitchers leave the team and go on to have stellar careers.
The Pirates have traded away many pitchers over the last few years and it seems they've all found a new level of skill.
During the 2022 season alone, Tyler Anderson, Joe Musgrove, Jameson Taillon, and Gerrit Cole have combined for two losses.
Anderson 8-0. 2.82 ERA
Musgrove 7-0, 1.50 ERA
Taillon 7-1, 2.93 ERA
Cole 6-1, 3.33 ERA
Cole has the distinction of this group that he has gone on to win a World Series.
Charlie Morton spent seven seasons with the Pirates, but since leaving Pittsburgh is yet to have a losing season.
Morton also picked up a World Series last year with the Atlanta Braves and previously with Cole and the Houston Astros in 2017.
Morton currently has a 4-3 record with a 5.67 ERA.
