Expectations Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes are high, like Rookie of the Year-level high.

But if his first at bat is any indication of how his season will go, he’ll be just fine.

In the first inning, with a runner on base, Hayes went deep off of Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks to give the Pirates an early 2-0 lead on Opening Day.

According to MLB Stats, Hayes is the youngest Pittsburgh batter to hit a home run on Opening Day since Barry Bonds did 33 years ago in 1988.
